Board Books

Oops! by David Shannon
We all know David is quite the troublemaker, but what you may not know is that the trouble started back when David was still in diapers! The Diaper David board books are super fun, colorful, and funny! |
The Water Hole by Graeme Base
Vivid colors and gorgeous illustrations of jungle animals make this one of the most fun counting books out there.

Picture Books
Chester by Melanie Watt
The battle of wills between one independent cat and an opinionated author/illustrator make for a hilariously entertaining picture book. Find out who wins or else Chester will hunt you down and scribble on you with his red pen. - It's not scribbling! - Yes it is! ...I love this book!

Little Beauty by Anthony Browne
Little Beauty is an amazingly illustrated and heartwarming (and familiar) story. Don't miss it!

Beginning Readers
Regarding the Fountain by Kate Klise
The fountain the kids in this book design is like a dream come true... lemonade, a deep end for scuba diving, a frozen section for ice skating- and that's just the beginning... this book is pure fun! |

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Just read this series! You won't regret it! In fact, we would bet that you will become just as addicted as the rest of us Potter fans. Oh, and if you are going on a long trip, check out the audio. They are truly wonderful, just ask my husband- that's how he got hooked!

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick
If I could say one word about this book I would say it is BEAUTIFUL (after all, it did win the Caldecott Medal). A thrilling, historical mystery involving a cryptic drawing, a hidden message and a mechanical man... this is a MUST READ! |
Teen Novels
Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Gripping plot, compelling characters and frighteningly true to life, this story will keep you up until the wee hours of the morning. When you finish you'll curse the fact that no bookstores are open at 1:00am so that you can get started on the second book in this trilogy.

Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson
Laurie Halse Anderson has a way of creating very real characters- it feels like they could be anyone you know. Twisted follows Tyler Miller during his senior year of high school, which, as you know, can be full of extreme highs and LOW lows. I read this in one sitting, and it's definitely worth the time.

Graphic Novels
Malice by Chris Wooding
Malice transports you head first into a world of comic books but the question is: can you get out? Grab this hybrid novel, graphic novel but be careful not to fall prey to Malice.
Binky the Space Cat by Ashley Spires
This is the funniest graphic novel I've read in ages! Binky the cat is obsessed with aliens (a.k.a. bugs) and is convinced that if he can reach outer space (a.k.a. the backyard) he can conquer the aliens and live happily ever after. Join the ride- you won't forget it!

Poetry
Runny Babbit by Shel Silverstein
This is quite the silly book (or should I say "billy sook")! I bought it about 30 seconds after I picked it up. Try reading it without laughing- it's nearly impossible! |
Dutch Sneakers and Flea Keepers by Calef Brown
Calef Brown's poetry books are just plain cool. Wacky and bright illustrations, crazy and completely hilarious poems... what more could you ask for?!

Tales of the Cryptids by Kelly Milner Halls
Could Bigfoot be real? What about the Lochness Monster? This book is full of fantastic, mysterious creatures and legends. Begin your investigations here!
